Sacred Space - Your Own Private Island

I used to be a procrastinator when it came to my meditation practice. There were always too many other things demanding my attention and I would defer my thoughts daily. Some days I'd be sitting here a few days, I sat there, to be honest, I do not have any sites that sacred space was really inspired me.

Lately, everything has changed. I received a beautiful zabuton comfortable. If you're like me (or maybe I'm just a slow learner), even though I have practiced meditation for many years, I've never heard of zabuton.

Zabuton is a square or rectangular large cushion flat you put your meditation cushion or Red Crescent discussion on the zafu. It's like your peaceful island rests on the knees lower than sits comfortably above the zafu. The ideal position to stay in the comfort of your session.

Suddenly you have space you can simply remove the contemplation and meditation. Eventually, he became imbued with sacred energy and helps you quickly find the center and do what little time or meditation time for you to feel comfortable and efficient. It can be your prayer beads or sacred text when not in use to show respect. Every time you go to your zabuton island, its energy is immediately by the sacred space you created.

No more sitting on the cold floor trying to find a comfortable position that allows you to clear your mind. Your zabuton is there for you, isolation and comforting, supporting and inspiring. Each time you want an escape from the most mundane and ordinary, your zabuton there as a foundation for your practice of meditation, sacred space.

So just drive the cats (they are always attracted to the sacred energy that is there) and to escape from one or two times a day for a little or a long meditation retreat. Zabuton thank you, you will know exactly where to go for daily reflection and prayer.

The nice thing is that if you have not designated a room for meditation, zabuton moves easily from room to room, inside or out with ease, bringing with him a sacred space.

Meditation - Cats, Bullies and Other Distractions

Shortly after I turned forty, it all fell apart. I developed an autoimmune disease, and my body began to attack themselves, great. The next few years it has become a deluge of countless doctor visits and medications. Besides my spirit withered with my health and it was not long before the depression

A good friend suggested I give meditation a try. If you knew me you would know that this idea was hard to accept, but was desperate and decided reluctantly agreed to give it a try.

For over five years now, and sometimes I feel I still do not understand all this stuff of meditation. Of course, it seemed simple enough in theory and in principle, but practice, so ... is a different situation altogether.

OK, we only see what I'm doing wrong here?

. Draw curtains, close the bedroom door, the light of my "higher consciousness", then put a candle in the "Ten steps deeper into the CD mediation plopping down on my legs crossed (zafu), meditation cushion, I touch my index finger and thumb, then, then - nothing.

I can not keep silent about, no matter how I try, and suddenly it is important to remember when I had my last oil change, if this year is a leap year or the name of the boy who m ' intimidated in the classroom. The experts tell you not to fight and let your mind wander and, ultimately, peace and enlightenment will be mine, but I must say, I do not buy it.

I tried changing rooms, candles, pillows, CD, and still nothing. I get in position, the music starts and so do distractions. There is a fireplace? It 'a cat? I have enough milk for breakfast tomorrow? - Full-time.

That's the way it has been for years, until three months ago, when fortunately I was the recipient of an iPod, thanks to my brother is an upgrade to a larger one. So I filled with music, put on a helmet and went for a nice, long walk. It was wonderful, relaxing and invigorating all at the same time, the music keeps perfect sync with my footsteps and breathing. When I tried to find the right words to describe it, it hit me ... Meditative!

Traditionalists do not hesitate to call this meditation book by any stretch of the imagination, but it was definitely what I needed, I had been looking for all these years. Who would have thought that an old pair of Nike Cortez and a loop of "one hit wonder" of the 1980 finally gives me peace. I have since added a number of more traditional meditation programs and tracks to the iPod and have not missed a day since I started walking.

Besides the obvious benefit in mind, I lost ten pounds, my high blood sugar has dropped considerably, and I eliminated gluten and wheat products from my diet. Now I am more patient, relaxed and focused on a daily basis and my friends and the children noticed the difference too.

So if you are like I recommend this form of relaxation, especially if you have problems with more traditional forms of meditation. Well, this seems to be the closest we can attain full enlightenment in this life ... and that is with me.

How Meditation Can Increase Your Willpower

It is the will to stick to a new health plan, like going to the gym, do a yoga practice at home or take a walk everyday. It's so much easier to flop on the couch and watch TV instead. You may want to stop smoking, but they lack the will, or be one of thousands who want to lose weight but I can not keep it together.

So how can we begin to control the 50,000 thoughts that cross our minds daily? Meditation masters have shown that control of our minds and increase our self-discipline is really possible. As the saying goes Zen says it is better to be a master of mind rather than mastered by mind.

Meditation helps to develop the will. As a teacher of meditation, I saw thousands of people take control of their thoughts and decisions through easy techniques. Meditation is to help realize the fluidity of the thoughts that fill our minds. Usually, these thoughts are negative and prevent us from making the right decisions. For example, one might think that we can not resist the chocolate, not to mention all the times I've given before. And then, almost unconsciously, you get chocolate and swallow it (and then feel guilty!)

When we meditate, we become more aware of our thoughts, and we can begin to change. We work with meditation, chakras, or centers of subtle energy, which will bring greater power to the emotional and spiritual energy level. Manipura chakra, the energy center of the body, just above the navel, is traditionally known to control the force of will. When we use the breath to activate the Manipura chakra, our inner strength to grow and we make more informed decisions. For example, when I see a piece of chocolate, I can think more clearly the impact it will have on my body, and can easily take the decision to move. In practice, after meditation, I become more aware of all my actions and thoughts, and can choose what I want (that I prefer a flat stomach like a piece of chocolate!)

Meditation for the will

1. If possible, do some yoga moves first - I recommend you to block the release of energy from 1 to clear any blockages in your energy system.

2nd Sit in a comfortable position in the ground or a chair. You can use a stool to sit on meditation cushions in a cross-legged position, so that your pelvis tilts forward slightly to help you sit in an upright posture and comfort.

3. Mentally relax each part of your body, feet to the top of the head. Allow your body to melt into the earth, and at the same time, focus on the spine to stand up gently to the sky. Keep your body relaxed but alert, please awareness of their breath. Breathe in and breathe naturally through your nose, feeling the peace and tranquility of mind and body meet. Continue for a few minutes.

4. When you hear the silence grow, mentally, to breathe in and out of the heart chakra at the center of the chest. It seems that every breath opens the petals of a heart center a bit ', when love and light to radiate out. It appears that you have to get the most of yourself - if it's just a joy, and compassion. Take that feeling for a few minutes to breathe in and out of the (heart) chakra, Anahata.

5. Now allow your awareness to relax in the Manipura chakra, located just above the navel. Knowingly exposing and energy of your heart center of your solar energy center, and feel the power of its center of higher self empowerment will. Breathing in and out of manipura for a while and let your conscience to climb back again to the heart chakra. Rest of their attention on the heart for a while, and bring your awareness to your body and how you feel. Take a moment to adapt to their environment. Gently move your fingers and toes, stretch your body and open your eyes when you're ready.
