Meditation is a wonderful way to deal with stress, calm the mind and helps us feel calm. The effects of even short meditations are beneficial. Here are some ideas for establishing a daily meditation practice.
Choose a time of day that is most conducive to your practice. You can choose to wake up ten or twenty minutes before your family wakes up so that your environment is peaceful. You can choose to meditate during the day when children are in school. You can choose to meditate during your lunch break at work. Some people meditate in the evening while the kids do their homework or when they are in bed for the night.
Create your own place of meditation. You do not have a whole room a place to meditate. Your place of meditation can be a corner of a room, common room with an exercise room, or even a hook somewhere in your home.
Gather a supply of meditation a few. You can keep it simple by using a pillow placed on a folded blanket if you're sitting in a lotus position or modification of a chair that supports your back and your feet can rest on the ground. If you want to create more atmosphere, you can create an altar with a statue of Buddha or a Buddha image. You could have a photo of the Dalai Lama, or someone that you associate with your spiritual practice.
Some people like to have candles and incense supplies included in your meditation. A burning candle and incense to create a pleasant atmosphere for meditation. By using these meditations "tools" is associated with meditation and every time I light the candle and incense, it will be a way to prepare for meditation
Minimize distractions. When ready to meditate and be aware of distractions (your mind will be to provide enough entertainment, believe me). This means turning off the computer and cell phone, turn off the television or radio, unplug the phone, and meditate in a time when family members are quiet - they can sleep, leave the house, or do something quiet.
Be creative. You can practice yoga, tai chi or Qi Gong as a meditation or meditation practice walk outside or meditate lying down, if you have physical pain that does not support a practice of sitting meditation.
Remember, this is not how long you meditate, what is important. Meditate, even for ten minutes a day will bring many benefits for you and those around you.
Good luck with your meditation practice. You can bring many blessings.
